Detached Youth Work sessions

Staffs CYP deliver detached youth work sessions on the streets around Kidsgrove to engage with young people providing advice and guidance as well as offering alternative activities.

Building positive relationships with the young people is crucial for trust so we can work in an alternative and diverse way, often just sitting and talking to young people and giving them a warm hot chocolate is enough to engage them so we can build relationships to signpost to diversionary activities.

Often all young people want is ‘somewhere to go’ and ‘something to do’ detached youth work can fill this gap by engaging with the young people on ‘their turf and terms’.

With Thanks to Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis for his Generous and ongoing support who funds the Detached youth work project.
